Tata Electronics Acquires Majority Stake in Pegatron’s Indian iPhone Plant

AB News Desk, New Delhi, 17 November 2024: In a significant move to solidify its role as an Apple supplier, India’s Tata Electronics has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Taiwanese firm Pegatron’s sole iPhone manufacturing facility in India. This development establishes a new joint venture between the two companies.

According to sources familiar with the deal, Tata Electronics will own a 60% stake and oversee daily operations of the plant. Pegatron will retain the remaining 40%, offering technical support to ensure seamless production. The agreement, disclosed internally last week, highlights Tata’s increasing involvement in Apple’s supply chain as the tech giant expands its manufacturing footprint in India.

The partnership is expected to enhance India’s position as a key player in global electronics manufacturing while diversifying Apple’s production base beyond China.
