AB Desk, New Delhi: P. Krishnamurthy, a 1997-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. This position holds the rank of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
Shri Krishnamurthy is currently serving as the Chief Electoral Officer and Principal Secretary, Election Department, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. His tenure in Delhi has been marked by effective management of electoral processes and significant administrative contributions.
In his new role as Chairperson of NPPA, Shri Krishnamurthy will oversee the regulation of pharmaceutical pricing and ensure the availability of essential medicines at affordable prices. The NPPA plays a critical role in implementing the government’s policies to make healthcare more accessible and equitable for the public.
Shri Krishnamurthy’s extensive experience in public administration is expected to bring robust leadership to the NPPA, contributing to policy formulation and the effective regulation of the pharmaceutical sector in India.
