
AB Desk, New Delhi: In a remarkable celebration of patriotism and valour, over 1.76 crore school students from all 36 States and Union Territories of India participated in Project Veer Gatha 4.0. Through creative mediums such as poems, paintings, essays, and videos, students paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the nation’s Armed Forces.
Launched in 2021, Project Veer Gatha aims to inspire students by sharing the heroic stories of gallantry award winners. It has grown into a major national initiative, fostering a deep sense of patriotism and national pride among young learners.
Activities and Engagement
From September 16 to October 31, 2024, schools across the country organized creative projects highlighting the bravery of gallantry awardees. Each school submitted their top four entries on the MyGov portal.
To deepen students’ understanding of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence, along with the Army, Navy, and Air Force, conducted virtual and in-person awareness sessions. These sessions focused on the extraordinary courage of unsung heroes, leaving a lasting impact on participants.
Participation Milestones
Project Veer Gatha has witnessed exponential growth in participation over its four editions:
- 2021 (Edition-I): 8 lakh students
- 2022 (Edition-II): 19.5 lakh students
- 2023 (Edition-III): 1.36 crore students
- 2024 (Edition-IV): Over 1.76 crore students
Recognizing Young Talent
Under Project Veer Gatha 4.0, 100 National Winners (Super 100) will be selected. Each winner will receive a ₹10,000 cash prize and will be honoured in a grand felicitation ceremony jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defense in New Delhi.
At regional levels, there will be:
- 4 winners per district, and
- 8 winners per State/UT,
all of whom will be felicitated by their respective local authorities.
