Ensuring 100% implementation of new laws in all seven Commissionerates and the entire state with a focus on victim-centric justice and efficient use of technology
Jotirmoy Roy, AB News, New Delhi: Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah today directed the Uttar Pradesh government to ensure 100% implementation of the three new criminal laws in all seven Commissionerates of the state by March 31, 2025, and across the entire state as soon as possible. This was announced after a review meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath in New Delhi.
During the meeting, Shri Amit Shah emphasized the need for efficient use of technology in the implementation of the new laws. He stated that there should be more than one forensic mobile van available in every district of the state to aid in investigations. He also suggested dividing forensic teams into three categories – serious, common, and very common – to prioritize resources and experts on serious cases.
The Union Home Minister also stressed the importance of regular monitoring of how many Zero FIRs have been transferred to the respective states. He directed the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to review the progress of implementation of the three new laws every 15 days and the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police once a week with officials from all concerned departments.
Shri Amit Shah highlighted that the three new criminal laws brought under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi are not punishment-oriented but victim-centric and aim to ensure speedy justice. The implementation of these laws in a state with a large population like Uttar Pradesh will send a positive message across the country.
The review meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Uttar Pradesh Government, including Union Home Secretary, Director General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), and Director General of the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB).
