AB News, Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday filed its first chargesheet in connection with alleged financial irregularities at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The chargesheet names former principal Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, former house staff member Dr. Ashish Kumar Pandey, Biplaab Sinha (owner of Maa Tara Traders), Suman Hazra (owner of Hazra Medical), and Afzar Ali Khan (a key individual and security personnel at Eshan Café) as accused.
This case was registered following an order from the Calcutta High Court, which directed an inquiry into financial mismanagement at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
In a related case, the CBI is also investigating the rape and murder of a junior female doctor from RG Kar Medical College, which took place in August this year. Former principal Dr. Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal, the former SHO of Tala Police Station, are accused of tampering with evidence and misleading the investigation. Initially probed by the Kolkata Police, the case was later handed over to the CBI.
The financial irregularities case has five accused, including the hospital’s former principal and a doctor, along with medical supply vendors and a café employee. This matter is particularly sensitive, as it involves the murder of a female doctor. The investigation is expected to uncover more significant revelations, with the potential to implicate other high-profile individuals.
The public is closely following developments in this case, anticipating further findings from the ongoing CBI inquiry.
