Ayurveda Aahara Offers Preventive Health Insights: Secretary Ayush

AB Desk, New Delhi: Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, unveiled a special edition of the Journal of Drug Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (JDRAS) dedicated to Ayurveda Aahara—a fusion of traditional Ayurvedic dietary practices with contemporary science. Released in the presence of Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, and senior officials, this issue highlights the Ministry’s commitment to preventive health through dietary insights.

The Ministry of Ayush, in collaboration with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), introduced the Ayurveda Aahara regulations in 2022 to formally define foods based on Ayurvedic principles. This framework preserves the authenticity of Ayurveda-based diets, supporting public health with evidence-based, traditional wisdom. According to Secretary Kotecha, “Innovative, science-backed solutions rooted in tradition are essential for addressing today’s food challenges. Our research on Ayurveda Aahara links ancient dietary wisdom with modern science, fostering sustainable practices for society.”

CCRAS’s research, featured in JDRAS, includes extensive studies on Ayurveda-based diets, standardization of recipes, and scientific validation of Ayurvedic foods’ nutritional benefits. Prof. Acharya remarked on the international recognition of CCRAS’s work, noting how Ayurveda Aahara aligns with global health priorities to provide sustainable, science-backed solutions. Through ongoing research, the Council is making Ayurvedic dietary practices more accessible and credible for a global audience, underscoring Ayurveda’s potential to guide modern nutritional practices.
