Sanjay Kumar Assigned Additional Charge of Higher Education Secretary

AB Desk, New Delhi, November 21, 2024: The Government of India has announced a significant administrative update, entrusting Sanjay Kumar, a 1990 batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, with additional responsibility in the education sector.

Currently serving as the Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Kumar will also assume the role of Secretary, Department of Higher Education, as per a notification issued on Thursday.

The decision underscores the government’s trust in Kumar’s ability to manage pivotal roles in the education domain. While the Department of School Education & Literacy focuses on foundational and secondary education, the Department of Higher Education plays a critical role in advancing policies to strengthen India’s tertiary education landscape.

This combined responsibility is expected to promote better coordination between the two departments, aligning efforts for comprehensive educational reforms.

Further notifications on appointments and departmental changes are anticipated in the coming days.
